A quaint and peaceful Connecticut community filled with luxury and elegance
Lying just northwest of Bridgeport is one of Connecticut’s most beloved and desirable communities. Continuously voted as one of the best towns to live in the entire state, Weston offers residents the ideal blend of rural serenity and big city convenience. One of the wealthiest residential communities in the U.S., the town is filled with high-end boutiques, delicious dining options, and world-class recreational activities - while simultaneously maintaining the charming small-town feel.
Originally incorporated in 1787, the area was primarily agricultural, with farmers using the lands to grow potatoes, onions, and apples. The lack of manufacturing in the area certainly contributed to Weston’s rural appeal, and even today, the town’s beautiful scenic landscape is one of the main highlights in the community.
As one of the most desirable and affluent communities in Connecticut, the majority of residents are white-collar professionals, often at the executive or managerial levels. The average annual household income for Weston is well over four times the national average, and homes in the area are valued at over $800,000 on average.
While the surrounding area is exceptionally rural and peaceful, there is a true sense of community within Weston itself. Residents often go out of their way to promote local businesses and events, and there is a distinct appreciation for local history and prosperity that can be felt throughout the neighborhood. In fact, the Weston Public School System is widely regarded as one of the best in the state, with the local community’s dedication to education playing a huge role in that fact.
The dining scene in Weston is unarguably one of the best around, with numerous excellent restaurants and world-class eateries around every corner. The Lunch Box has been a local favorite since it opened in 1977. Their unique approach to American comfort food includes dishes like fried chickpeas, broiled salmon filet, and a delicious Philadelphia-style cheesesteak sandwich.
Wire Mill Saloon and Barbeque offers the community some of the highest quality smoked meats and barbeque classics around. Their menu includes delights like pork belly tacos, pulled pork, beef brisket, and a mouthwatering smoked half chicken.
The Barn Door Restaurant is another local favorite, offering an innovative approach to locally sourced and seasonal cuisine. Their menu includes steamed littleneck clams, an outstanding paella, and shrimp and polenta that guests absolutely adore. Dedicated to using only the freshest of local ingredients, guests can guarantee they’ll have an outstanding experience every time they visit.
Weston residents are easily able to make their way to the numerous surrounding cities in the area. However, there are also numerous recreational activities and entertainment opportunities right in town to enjoy in their spare time.
Devil’s Den Preserve is a beautiful local conservation dedicated to protecting the environment and local wildlife. With over 1,756-acres, the preserve is the largest in the state. Trout Brook Valley Preserve is another local gem. This 730-acre park offers 14 miles of trails, scenic overlooks, and apple and blueberry orchards for visitors to enjoy.
The Weston Historical Society strives to preserve the wonderful and unique history of this one-of-a-kind community. Their mission is to maintain the beautiful heritage of Weston through study and discovery, constantly looking to learn about and be inspired by the area’s past. Not only can residents visit the various local sites protected by the society, but they can also attend the numerous annual events and programs held throughout the year.
